Ten Thousand Bytes of Cinematic Critique
I actually made this picture sometime last year (2007 A.D.), so it's going to take me a while to remember what I liked and didn't like about the film. Here's a summary, though: The Good 1) Acting - a stellar cast starring Robert DeNiro and (writer and director) Chazz Palminteri highlighted great performances by everyone involved. 2) Script - Turning Palminteri's one man L.A. show into a full-fledged film is difficult enough, but also trying to make a story about growing up in the 1960s, falling in love with a girl of a different race, and falling in with the mafia is a very ambitious project that actually turned out pretty decent.3) Directing - Palminteri did a fine job crafting the tale. The Bad1) Script - A little too convenient or unrealistic at times, but it didn't hurt the overall feel of the movie. 2) The movie's promotional poster - Almost as inappropriate as the DVD cover for The Matador.3) I don't remember.Eh, that's good enough for now.
