Ten Thousand Bytes of Cinematic Critique
This felt like a disappointing waste of a movie. It's not that the movie was garbage, but that the good ideas and talents behind it ended up wasted with a schlocky, if titillating (If not the good kind of titillating), resolution. At first (And for most of the runtime), the movie calmly surprised me by proving it has a heart and brains behind its desire to creep me the fuck out. And then it quickly devolves into the piece of shit we all assumed it'd be from the trailers, near the end. Like I said... disappointing.Up until then, though, it was nice to see someone trying to follow in the footsteps of movies like District 9, Slither, and Drag Me To Hell by creating uncomfortable, riveting entertainment with strong stories. They just forgot about the entertainment part (Making this more like The Fly), and eventually completely fucked up the story (Making this more like Hancock). Also, Adrien Brody looks like someone spliced a bird with a man. Maybe I should have used some picture references, but this is pretty much how I remember those characters looking. An alternate depiction of the movie's theme would be to have Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley's characters taking turns to shout the same lines of "SCIENCE" "WHAT'S HAPPENING" "THIS IS A MISTAKE" and "YOUR FACE IS A MISTAKE" to each other -- plus the used lines of "LIFE IS RANDOM" and "LIFE IS ACCIDENTAL". That's basically the plot of the movie, in a nutty shell.
This movie is fucked-up. Jai calls it titillating, and that's more or less his the extent of his praise. You know what, though? This was enough for me. I had a great time, even if I can't necessarily disagree with Jai on any particular point.

A good horror flick always does metaphoric battle with our interior demons, and Splice summons them in impressive numbers.

Splice is science-fiction/horror at its best, underpinning its daring moments of bodily horror and sexual anxieties with flawed characters to care about and moral issues to wrestle with.MicaBest Reviews for Round Rock Tow Truck service
